Zermatt has many opportunities for hiking. Numerous well-marked footpaths and walks (400 km in all) will take you through
pine-scented mountain forests, to the shores of calm Alpine lakes and to the ice-blue glaciers. Mountain railways make it
easy to reach the high altitude rambling areas. There are many mountain cabins and restaurants ready to offer a warm welcome
and a leisurely rest.
Mountain Bikes and Dirt Scooters can be rented out; there are numerous special mountain trails.
Summer skiing is possible too, on the everlasting glacial snow at the foot of the Matterhorn, between 2900 and 3900 meters
a.s.l. in the superb mountain scenery of Zermatt.
